This is also a one-of-a-kind natural edge barrette. Manzanita burl is a scrub tree from the desert Southwest. It is a favorite wood of mine because it lends itself well to turquoise inlay with traditional Southwest flavor.

This is one of my favorite barrettes of all time. I had this small slab of lilac and knew that this section of the burl would make a great clip. But, I had to cut through enough of this most beautiful wood to get this barrette, that at least 6 other barrettes could have been made with the Lilac that I had to waste. Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do! The Lilac is flanked with Ebony with an accent of Birds Eye Maple.

Gimlet Burl w/Turquoise inlay

Gimlet burl comes from the desert regions of Australia. It is a very unusual burl and quite rare. The tree actually grows with less that 1 inch of rainfall a year. With all the voids and sap pockets in Gimlet, it lends itself well to my inlay madness!
The Gimlet is flanked by Ebony and Birds Eye Maple.
